Macao Tourism Online Surveillance System
This research operation monitors online mentions related to Macao tourism. The operation aims to surveil an extensive array of web content that includes social media platforms, chats, conversations, online reviews, and news media, among others. Data will be used not only to observe, track, and identify principal drivers of Macao’s tourism performance, destination image, visitor activity and satisfaction (or dissatisfaction), but also to model and predict important correlations leading to more sustainable and effective long-term tourism policies and strategies.
Surveillance operations began in October 2022 and is currently in pilot mode and anticipated to last until the first half of 2023. Information presented on this page is auto-updating but will be intermittently paused. Once operations become routine, subscribers will be notified by email for updates, regular memos, and in-depth analysis.
